Ian Dixon Obituary, Death – Hollansburg Man, 21, Dies in Darke County Dirt Bike Crash

The Hollansburg community and residents across Darke County, Ohio, are mourning the tragic loss of Ian Dixon, 21, who died following a devastating dirt bike crash during the early morning hours of Friday, June 26. His untimely passing has left family, friends, and neighbors heartbroken as they remember a young man whose life was cut far too short.

According to the Ohio State Highway Patrol, the fatal collision occurred on Richmond Palestine Road, just north of Downing Road in Darke County. Preliminary investigators say Ian was operating a 2005 Honda CRF250 dirt bike and traveling northbound when it collided with a southbound 2014 KTM 350 SX-F dirt bike.

Authorities reported that the KTM, operated by 19-year-old Kasyn Hollinger of New Madison, crossed left of the center line immediately before the collision. The impact caused both riders to lose control of their motorcycles. Ian’s dirt bike continued north before leaving the west side of the roadway, while the KTM traveled off the east side after the crash.

Emergency responders quickly arrived at the scene and attempted to provide aid, but Ian sustained fatal injuries and was pronounced dead. Hollinger survived the collision but suffered serious injuries and was transported by medical helicopter to Kettering Health for treatment.

The Ohio State Highway Patrol continues to investigate the circumstances surrounding the crash. Officials have stated that several factors remain under review, including speed, alcohol impairment, and helmet usage. Investigators have not announced any final conclusions and are asking anyone with information about the collision to contact authorities as the investigation continues.

Numerous emergency agencies assisted with the response, including the Darke County Sheriff’s Office, New Madison Fire Department, Hollansburg Fire Department, Tri-Village EMS, MedFlight, and Ace’s Towing. Their coordinated efforts helped secure the scene while emergency medical personnel treated the injured rider and investigators documented evidence.

Friends and loved ones have remembered him as an adventurous young man with a passion for riding and an outgoing personality that made a lasting impact on everyone he met. The tragedy also serves as a reminder of the importance of roadway safety for all motorists, including those operating motorcycles and dirt bikes.
